under the sea!
I’ll be honest: as a member of an almost entirely Canadian/German family, hot Australian Christmases are alien to my sensibilities… I’ll take clean white snow and wood fires over heat-stroke any day! But even I’ll admit there’s something very lovely about a Christmas trip to the beach: sparkling blue water and crunchy sand and the knowledge that there’s always an ice cream handy to save you from getting too hot. It does take some getting used to, though, which is why I was glad when these fun little table settings arrived earlier this week. A fun way for anyone to acclimatise themselves to an ‘Aussie’ Christmas, the red and white colour schemes available are traditionally festive, whilst the marine theme practically sings of a holiday season in the Land Down Under:
Table Setting (available in red and white), $45
These German-designed table settings are made from sturdy corrugated cardboard, and come flat-packed, ready for you to build your own magical marine world to sit amongst your Christmas lunch! The setting is bound to entertain your guests, who can play with the elements: stick a fish in the bird’s beak, hide a crustacean in amongst the coral… The setting includes shapes like feathers, fish, prawns, octopi, shells, coral and sea plants, as well as an awesome little crab (just like Sebastian from the The Little Mermaid… and anything that reminds you of The Little Mermaid has got to be good, right?) Available from all Pigeonhole stores.
