Back in the day (ye olde day, that is) people used to carry around miniature paintings of their loved ones when they were apart. Perhaps to remind them of what their beloved looked like? This was well before the handy advent of Facebook and social networking… and photographic memory it would seem. At any rate, I think the whole miniatures caper was pretty darn sweet.
