Started your Christmas shopping yet? I’m always slow off the mark, and this year has been no different so far. I always intend to start my Christmas shopping as early as possible, but time slips away so quickly that all of a sudden it’s Christmas Eve and I’m doing the mad last-minute dash! In an attempt to get myself (and other like-minded procrastinators!) moving, we thought we’d profile some amazing pieces of creativity and design that will be available at our Pigeonhole stores over the festive season.

1st cab off the rank is the beautiful and intricately designed Artecnica ’Icarus’ light shade:

Icarus Light, $165

Designed by the extraordinary Tord Boontje, this stunning light shade is made of layers of polyester, with a cone-shaped safety protector around the lightbulb (safety first, folks!) As with many of Boontje’s designs, the Icarus light is inspired by nature: this time by the fluttering wings of a bird, as well as the classic myth of Icarus himself.

We’ve got a delivery of these beauties landing next week: maybe it’s time to start crossing names off that Christmas shopping list?
